Description

Role

Are you interested in teaching and learning? Are you interested in health education? Do you want to develop these skills working with the local refugee community? As a Health Champion Training Developer we are looking for two students who can help us develop a 6 week training programme to train members of the Coventry refugee community to become “Health Champions” to act as a source of information and guidance within their local communities.

As a Health Champion Training Developer you will be expected to work with members of the refugee community to work out what new arrivals to the UK need to know about accessing the NHS and other services (health literacy). You will then develop materials to train “Health champions” who will work within their communities to share this information. You will also explore aspects of health promotion. The materials developed will be piloted and evaluated as part of the wider project.

Additionally, you will take a proactive role in encouraging reflection and suggestions for improvement for how the team can approach this and future similar projects and tasks.

You will be working with Prof Kate Owen (WMS) and Mohamad Alobeid (Coventry Refugee and Migrant Centre) who will give full support at each stage and be present when attending CRMC. We will schedule a meeting at the start to discuss your personal development goals, a midpoint meeting to see how things are going and an endpoint to reflect on your experience. We want you to be able to develop during the role and will support you to do this!

Please note: Due to the nature of this role, this is only available to current Warwick University students.
