Role
*Ringfenced to LJMU graduates with an MSc or LJMU students working towards an MSc or PhD in Psychology or a related discipline*
Applications are invited for a graduate research assistant position on a scoping study that involves ascertaining the feasibility, acceptability, and perceived need for suicide prevention programmes in primary schools.
You will be involved in conducting qualitative semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders including children and young people, parents, school staff, and healthcare professionals who work with young people experiencing suicidal crisis. You will be based in the Suicide and Self-Harm research group in School of Psychology, with mentoring and supervision provided by Dr Ashworth and Prof Saini.
Duties and responsibilities
You will be required to approach and recruit participants and undertake the collection of qualitative research data with key stakeholders including children and young people, parents, school staff, and healthcare professionals who work with young people experiencing suicidal crisis. You will also be required to analyse the data and write up the findings for publication in a journal article.
Skills and experience
We are seeking to appoint a candidate who is currently working towards or who has already achieved a Masters qualification in Psychology or a related discipline. The candidate will need to be able to run empirical research with little supervision, have experience collecting and analysing qualitative data, have good communication skills, and good computer literacy (ideally including NVivo). Past experience working in mental health/suicide prevention and/or working with children and families would also be desirable.
