Role

This research assistant role will be working with Sport & Public Health in the Faculty of Health, Sport & Behavioural Sciences

The purpose of the role is to assist in the delivery of research in this area and the role holder is also expected to provide some technical and academic support for research council and/or commercially funded research and enterprise projects and to contribute to teaching and learning as directed.

Duties and responsibilities

The post holder will be expected to undertake other responsibilities and tasks as reasonably requested by the Principal Researcher.

The post holder will be responsible and accountable for ensuring all employment legislative requirements are adhered to including equality and diversity and health and safety issues.

The job description may be altered at any time in the future in line with the level of the post to meet changing institutional requirements, but only in full consultation with the post holder.

 

Skills and experience
- First degree in relevant discipline

- Communicate effectively with the academic team members and research participants with directive and progress information.
- Contact and/or interview participants as required.-
- Administrative work for meetings and management of project(s)
- Contribute to written documentations of project(s)
- Represent the university at meetings and presentations as required
- Service outputs of project team objectives. In the context of the project, respond to public and participant queries about the research.
- Part of decision making progress regarding deliverables and progress.
-Day to day organisation of own workload within framework of agreed activity.
- Resolve day to day problems related to research objectives and deadlines
- Use standard and project –specific research techniques and methods including selective questionnaire/methods 
-Analyse interpret results of own research and generate original ideas based on outcomes
- Working in office or lab with low level risk.
- Explain background to project to participants and/or to meetings and presentations if required.
- Experience of research methodologies.
- Competent with NVIVO, and experience of relevant data manipulation and presentation software
- Organisation skills. Good organizational skills to collect and merge several different data streams into unified and confidential database.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, in English
- Willing to undertake a range of enterprise activities.
- General sensitivity to be applied for team and colleagues.
