Research Assistant for Research Institute for Literature and Cultural History Project: ‘The Unhomely’working with the Brampton Museum, Newcastle-under-Lyme and Culture&.

We wish to employ a research assistant to support a research project which contributes to the outreach work of LJMU’s Research Institute of Literature and Cultural History. 

Duties and responsibilities
The role involves working with staff at the Brampton Museum and Culture&, an independent arts, heritage, and education charity, to research background material for an exhibition, ‘The Unhomely, to be held at the Brampton Museum from September 2026. 

 
The research work can be carried out flexibly and largely remotely, although several site visits for team meetings may be required. (Transport costs for on site visits will be reimbursed by RILCH). 
 
The research activities will involve collecting and collating oral histories and archival work. 
 
The post will be for a total of 50 hours, working approximately 8 hours per week for 6 weeks between March and April. 
 
Working hours are flexible and can be negotiated with the project co-ordinators. 

Skills and experience
This role is suitable for postgraduate and doctoral students from the School of Humanities and Social Science at LJMU. 

 
Excellent research skills, self-motivation, and good organizational and communication skills are required. Previous experience of independent research would be an advantage.
