Role
Canterbury Christ Church University, working in partnership with Canterbury Rugby Football Club, are running a funded project to recruit and retain female players for rugby union.

 
The Women’s Rugby Activator will be responsible for supporting the recruitment of new female players and supporting coaches and staff to activate non-contact rugby union. This will include supporting the promotion of women’s rugby club sessions, signposting new players to appropriate sessions, and working with the women’s rugby club to retain these players.

Duties and responsibilities

  • To support the recruitment and retention of female students into rugby union.
  • To support delivery of non-contact rugby sessions and games at Canterbury Rugby Football Club & Christ Church Sports Centre.
  • Proactively target students who have not played any form of rugby union before.
  • Promote university women’s rugby clubs and non-contact game opportunities via social media.
  • Support players transition to indoor, non-contact forms of rugby to contact, club rugby.
  • Undertake appropriate health & safety measures within sessions, adhering to risk assessments, hazard management and reporting policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and report on students engaged through effective data collection and reporting.
  • Support the development of rugby union and the wider Canterbury community (as time allows) in consultation with the Delivery Manager at CCCU.

Skills and experience

  • Experience of playing, coaching or watching Rugby
  • Ability to collect and analyze data
  • Knowledge of social media and other forms of avenues to recruit new female rugby players
  • Desire to increase participation in rugby and improve student experience
