Role

The role below is only for Middlesex University Graduates

The post holder will be primarily responsible for making decisions related to Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS), checking applicant documentation and maintaining accurate records in line with the University’s Sponsor Licence requirements. To provide general administrative services related to Student route (Previously Tier 4) applicant journey within the Student Visa Compliance Team. To support Academic Registry processes and ensure compliance with Student route (Previously Tier 4) Sponsor Guidance.

Duties and responsibilities

  • To work as part of the Student Visa Compliance team. To assess and make decisions on CAS checks, including previous immigration history, academic progress, English language levels, acceptable international qualifications, previous qualification levels, validity of financial evidence, Academic Technology Approval scheme (ATAS) certificates, and previous UK visa immigration history, to minimise visa refusals.
  • To be primarily responsible for generating CAS records inputting and validating data required for the CAS on the University’s student records system (Banner)
  • To respond to queries from Admissions, international Regional Offices and other stakeholders, relating to the CAS process and Student visa sponsorship requirements in an appropriate and timely manner
  • Offer advice to students via emails or MS Teams. Process urgent requests for CAS’s promptly and accurately and record details on student records system (Banner)
  • To assist with the visa and passport checks during ID check event as students arrive at the University.
  • Support the Student Visa Compliance team in day-to-day compliance activities, including (Emails / Assessing Academic progression).
General Duties:
  • To work in a consistent and organised manner, delivering excellent levels of customer service and acting professionally at all times
  • To respond in a professional and efficient manner to requests for information or advice from students, staff, and prospective employers of our students and others
  • To work flexibly, and to provide support to other Academic Registry services when required

Skills and experience
Essential:

  • Experience of dealing with large volumes of data, working with Excel spreadsheets, including extracting and comparing data from a number of sources for analysis
  • Ability to work accurately and with a high level of attention to detail
  • High computing and IT skills, including knowledge of MS Office packages such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience of working as part of a busy team in a target-driven environment and remaining calm under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly, using sensitivity and tact, with students, staff, and external agenciesAbility to learn new skills and adapt to new ways of working
