Role
A short-term role within the Agriculture and Environment department at Harper Adams University has arisen to process some experimental nutritional and soil data to prepare it for statistical analyses. This role is maximum 30 hours worth of work over the course of 2-8 weeks, so is flexible dependant on candidates availability.
The successful candidate would require strong Excel data processing skills to sort data, run further calculations and present the data in tables and figures. A good use of Word is also required to report data and graphs generated from this data. The candidate will be required to work in a hybrid style, meeting on-campus and working either on-campus or remotely. The candidate will need to have the ability to work on data using their own computer with up-to-date Microsoft software.
Full training will be provided on the data analyses to be undertaken, with regular meetings to inform progress. An understanding of experimental analyses for soil and grass nutritional samples would be an advantage. This role is approximately one-week of full-time equivalent work. This role could be taken over a full-time or part-time basis, throughout January and February 2026, depending on the agreed arrangements between the successful candidate and their line manager.
Duties and responsibilities
Process previously collected experimental data and run different calculations to determine analyte concentrations (grass nutritional and soil composition data). Review and interrogate data and present findings in table and figure formats.
Prepare the data for statistical analyses. Report and discuss data progress and findings with line manager and the wider research team as required
Skills and experience
Strong, proven data processing and presentation using Excel and Word. Ability to work conscientiously and effectively in a detailed-orientated manner, with good organisational skills and self-motivation.
Good communication (written and verbal) and learning skills. Honours degree in a related science subject (for example animal nutrition, crop science or agriculture). Right to work in the UK.
