Description

Role

The School of Health Sciences are recruiting post-graduate research students to support small groups of Second Year Undergraduate Health Sciences students to engage with feedback and develop academic writing skills.

The role is to support the facilitation of small group workshops to help students identify patterns in their feedback, set goals and access resources to enable achievement of personal action plans. 

The project will take place over a period of approximately 4 months, with an approximate start date of 20th January 2026. Post holders will be required to work flexibly and commit to between 8 and 20 hours of work during that time, including attending a training event.

£20.13 per hour.

£2.43 per hour holiday pay.

Closing date for applications - 7th January 2026. 

In your cover letter, please identify any skills or experience you have which will enable successful facilitation of the workshops. You will require the support of your supervisor to undertake this role.

 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Shadow / Co-Facilitate at least 2 workshops and provide timely communication with students throughout the project.
  • Complete documentation to track and report on student engagement with the project.
  • Liaise with project team to ensure the smooth operational running of the workshops and student wellbeing

 

Skills and experience

  • Experience or insight into Health Sciences undergraduate programmes.
  • Facilitation skills which motivate and inspire students to achieve their personal goals.
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with others and provide an appropriate learning environment and support to students.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Kate Granger Building -University of Surrey

Additional information

  • You must attend a 2hr in person workshop at Kate Granger Building in mid/late Jan 2026
  • You must be available to co-facilitate at least 2 x 2hrs workshops with second year health sciences students in Feb and May 2026
