Role
We are seeking an illustrator to collaborate with our research team on a project exploring the landscape of Learning Disability (LD) Nursing. We have undertaken research (surveys and interviews) capturing the experiences of LD nurses, students, stakeholders, and people living with learning disabilities. We are now in the process of writing up and disseminating our research.
Please note: This is a short-term opportunity for any University of Salford Students with Illustration experience.The role comprises a 60 hour work package which can be utilised as the candidate sees fit within the timeframe. End date / output is due by February 20th.
Duties and responsibilities
- To translate key research insights into an accessible, engaging comic or storyboard. This visual resource will be used in an educational context to help young people (ages 13-18) understand what LD Nursing is, what LD nurses do, and why the profession is so valuable.
- Collaborate with researchers to distil findings into clear visual narratives Create inclusive, sensitive, and engaging illustrations.

Develop a short comic / storyboard that communicates complex ideas in a youth-friendly, approachable way
Skills and experience
- Provide digital artwork suitable for online use
- Minimum 2 years Illustration experience
- Experience in educational illustration, comics, or health-related storytelling is a bonus but not essential.
- Be able to work independently
- To work to a deadline
- What matters most is the ability to bring stories and experiences to life through thoughtful visual design.
