Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated CAD Engineer to join the technical design team at our regional office. This role is crucial in supporting the documentation of our electrical distribution network infrastructure.
We welcome applications from both experienced candidates and students currently pursuing a relevant qualification. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, modifying, and managing technical drawings and schematics essential for the planning, construction, and maintenance of critical power systems. Duties and responsibilities
The CAD Engineer will play a key role in the technical design process, ensuring all documentation is accurate, compliant, and clearly communicated. Core responsibilities will include:
- Produce, update, and manage precise electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, layout drawings, and detailed component plans using CAD software.
- Accurately read, interpret, and translate engineering specifications, red-line markups, and design notes into compliant technical drawings.
- Maintain an organised, up-to-date, and accessible drawing register and archive, ensuring strict version control and data integrity.
- Ensure all drawings and designs adhere to internal company standards, industry best practices, and relevant national/international electrical codes (e.g., NEC, IEC, BS, etc.).
- Work closely with Electrical Engineers, Project Managers, and field teams to incorporate design changes and resolve drawing conflicts or discrepancies.
- Perform self-checks and peer reviews on completed work to maintain a high level of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.Skills and experience.
Skills and experience
- A Diploma, Certificate, or Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, CAD Technology, Drafting & Design, or a related technical field (or currently studying towards one).
- Mandatory proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD required) for 2D drafting and technical drawing.
- Strong foundational understanding of electrical systems, including standard electrical symbols, components, and general drafting conventions.
- Proven ability to produce highly accurate, well-organised, and technically correct documentation.
- Good communication, collaboration, and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, diagrams, and specifications.
