Description
Role
*Ringfenced to LJMU students and recent graduates only*
As part of our work to celebrate and uplift Black voices, experiences and cultures across Liverpool, we are developing a new Black Voices Guide that will support students and staff in navigating the city and feeling a sense of belonging. To bring this guide to life, we are seeking an illustrator who can create warm, engaging and culturally resonant artwork that reflects everyday moments within Liverpool’s Black communities.
The role will involve producing a series of poster-style illustrations that capture scenes such as Black hair being braided or trimmed, local restaurants and food spots, supermarkets offering culturally specific items, places of worship, and other community moments. Each illustration should stand alone as a full poster while also being suitable for cropping without losing the core narrative. In addition to these illustrations, the role includes creating a simple, visually appealing map highlighting key areas of interest.
This will not need to be drawn to scale but should support readers in navigating the city and understanding its cultural landmarks.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape the visual identity of a meaningful project and contribute to a guide that celebrates heritage, community and place. We will also be providing the moodboard as a reference.
