Role
As part of the Quality and Partnerships team, the Projects Officer (Online Learning) will play a key role in shaping the University’s proposed online delivery model. This role focuses on the discovery phase, supporting a review of existing regulations, policies, systems, and processes to identify barriers to effective online and flexible education.
Although based within the Quality and Partnerships sub-team, you will work closely with colleagues across Education Policy and Quality, the wider Education Group, and other professional services teams to map the student journey and pinpoint areas for change that will enable online and flexible delivery at scale.
This position combines core business delivery with project-based work, requiring strong analytical insight, process improvement skills, and the ability to manage input from diverse stakeholders.
Duties and responsibilities
Project Management:
1. Lead the scoping, planning, and management of work to identify regulations, policies, processes, and systems that need amendment to support online and flexible curriculum delivery, with guidance from the Quality Assurance Manager.
2. Prepare clear reports, recommendations, and briefing materials for governance groups and senior stakeholders, with guidance from the Quality Assurance Manager.
3. Track and escalate project risks and issues appropriately.
4. Initiate and manage discrete workstreams where capacity allows, ensuring milestones are met.
Supporting Online Learning Discovery:
5. Collaborate with the project team to define potential delivery models for online learning; conduct research and gather internal feedback to inform proposals for online delivery.
6. Engage with academic and professional service teams to understand the current student journey and assess the impact of proposed models.
7. Identify barriers (such as regulations, processes, policies, and their interaction with technology) that may hinder effective online delivery.
8. Design and facilitate workshops or structured discussions to help stakeholders explore proposals and their implications for the student experience.
9. Based on scoping and consultation, support on proposing initial amendments to regulations, policies, and processes to enable effective online and flexible delivery, ensuring alignment with institutional and regulatory requirements.
Skills and experience
Essential
• Exceptional organisational and project management skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to draft, edit, and present documents clearly.
• Good understanding of online and/or flexible learning in UK HE
• Ability to undertake both quantitative and qualitative analysis to inform advice and recommendations.
• Experience of risk/issue tracking and escalation in a project or governance context.
• Confidence to influence and negotiate with stakeholders, including senior staff.
• Capacity to design and run workshops/meetings that engage stakeholders in policy or governance change.
• Proactive self-starter, able to initiate tasks and sustain progress with limited supervision.
Desirable
• Experience of higher education governance or committee support.
• Familiarity with policy frameworks, regulations, or compliance.
• Experience developing and implementing policies and QA processes for flexible and/or online learning.

Location
Hybrid with one to two days a week at our office in Coventry.
