Description

Role

These roles are being offered as a casual student work opportunity until 31st July 2026, with the North East Uni Connect programme (NEUCP) and North East Raising Aspiration Partnership (NERAP). The NEUCP, funded by the Office for Students’ (OfS), aims to support young people from underrepresented groups in making informed choices about higher education options and minimising barriers to progression, including academic attainment. This involves all colleges and universities in the North East region working together to deliver a sustained and progressive programme of support. NERAP is a collaboration of the five universities in the North East of England, working together to support young people to think about their futures and how higher education can help them reach their goals. Our Choices Together Programme supports care-experienced young people in Years 7-13 to discover and experience higher education through on-campus and online activities.

NEUCP and NERAP are looking for enthusiastic individuals who will:

- Support on-campus events and activities (some specifically aimed at care-experienced young people). The shifts will be on set dates that will be advertised throughout the year.

- Deliver our programme of HE sessions in schools across the North East. The shifts will be on an ad-hoc basis in response to the needs of the schools. All session materials and training in delivery are provided.

- Attend careers fair stands on behalf of the partnerships and give impartial higher education information, advice and guidance (HEIAG).

An ability to enthuse young people about progression to higher education is essential, alongside the capacity to communicate well with staff and students and school/college pupils and show empathy with young people from underrepresented groups. Previous experience of working with young people would be beneficial. Successful candidates must be willing to attend a mandatory training programme to be held on 3 Wednesday afternoons in Jan/Feb 2026.
