Description

This role is being offered as a casual student work opportunity until 31st July 2026, with the North East Uni Connect programme (NEUCP) and North East Raising Aspiration Partnership (NERAP). The NEUCP, funded by the Office for Students’ (OfS), aims to support young people from underrepresented groups in making informed choices about higher education options and minimising barriers to progression, including academic attainment. This involves all colleges and universities in the North East region working together to deliver a sustained and progressive programme of support.

NERAP is a collaboration of the five universities in the North East of England, working together to support young people to think about their futures and how higher education can help them reach their goals. Our Choices Together Programme supports care-experienced young people in Years 7-13 to discover and experience higher education through on-campus and online activities.

NEUCP/NERAP is looking for an enthusiastic individual for 4 hours every week to assist with the publishing, planning and creation of a range of digital and online content through social media and other digital platforms. The post holder will also carry out data entry in support of the evaluation of both programmes, as well as general office-based administrative tasks.

Experience of writing and publishing content and designing visual imagery for social media, alongside monitoring multiple social media channels, would all be beneficial.

We are looking for a quick learner with an aptitude for digital and online communications, who is enthusiastic to get started on helping support our activities. Please note, ideally this role will be worked at the same time, on the same day each week.

  • Support with the planning and creation of online content for social media and other digital platforms, including writing engaging and informative copy and creating visual imagery suitable for a variety of target audiences (students, parents/carers, teachers and advisers).
  • Organise evaluation forms and transfer information from paper surveys to digital formats, ensuring accuracy and completeness and cross-referencing to correct discrepancies.
  • Assist with general office-based administrative tasks in support of the NEUCP/NERAP, including preparation for events.

Skills and experience

  • Ability to write engaging and factual content for a range of different audiences (including students, parents/carers, teachers and advisers).
  • Competency in Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel and Outlook) and a good grasp of social media platforms.
  • Excellent proof-reading skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisation, time management and administrative skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure and use own initiative.
  • Ability to enter data with a high degree of accuracy and completeness and cross-reference to correct discrepancies.
  • Flexibility and a positive approach to tasks, activities and situations.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the University’s Vision, Mission and Values and to work within University policies and procedures.
  • An awareness of issues relating to progression, recruitment and admission of students into further and higher education, particularly those from under-represented groups.
