Role
Our client are the leading air compressor house in Staffordshire, Shropshire and the West Midlands and based across three sites in these areas.They are looking for an experienced engineer who can be cross trained to service air compressors in addition to repairing and servicing ancillary equipment. This job is an established role within the company, working closely with the existing Compressed Air, Nitrogen Generation and Vacuum Team, dealing with the on-site commissioning, maintenance and repair of industrial air treatment equipment, air compressors, nitrogen and oxygen generators, vacuum and associated equipment.The job is varied and involve complete strip downs and overhauls on client machines at client sites. The successful candidate will ideally be located in North Staffordshire, or within 20 miles of our Head Office.. Ongoing training will be given to the successful candidate.

 
Working days and hours are Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week. Flexibility is important as they are a service industry, early starts are sometimes required (which result in a standard 8 hour day but an early finish), weekend work and working more than 8 hours a day are also sometimes required.
 
The successful applicant will be based at Stoke on Trent Office.
 
Salary for this position is £28,000 - £38,000 DOE. 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Service, maintenance and repair of all forms of air dryers, air compressors, vacuum pumps, blower, valves etc
  • Other duties may include delivery/collection of equipment & parts and assisting other engineers both in our workshops and on site.
  • Attend ‘call out’ to client sites outside normal working hours as required.

Skills and experience

  • Good engineering skills, particularly with knowledge of all types of industrial air compressors and associated equipment
  • Working knowledge of compressor electrical and control systems.
  • Extensive Engineering experience and/or recognised qualifications preferably with an approved apprenticeship qualification
  • Good communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence (or European Equivalent – Std Licence up to 3.5 tonnes)
  • Basic working knowledge of H&S issues, documentation, Risk Assessments, Method Statements and Personal Safety as well as current legislation relating to the tasks being undertaken.Other desirable skills (but not essential)
  • An understanding of basic compression principles including flow, pressure and volume.
  • An understanding of drying & filtration principles.
  • Ability to read drawings
  • Electrical fault-finding abilities.
