Duties and responsibilities
This role supports the day-to-day running of a small independent silversmithing studio and will be adapted to suit the candidate’s strongest skills. Typical tasks include assisting with silver recycling and preparation for workshops, photographing finished pieces and workshop activities, and helping to plan and post social media content, decorating the studio, and liaising with clients. 

 
The studio assistant may also support content creation for upcoming courses and retreats, help prepare materials for workshops, and contribute to general organisation around the studio. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys both creative and practical work, and who is keen to gain experience within a working jewellery studio environment. 
 
The position is based within a small, silversmithing studio where work ranges from jewellery making, painting walls, hand fabrication, packing up orders, writing hand written notes, setting stones, creating pretty displays to photography, marketing, and workshop delivery.

Skills and experience

  • A practical and careful approach to handling tools and materials
  • Good attention to detail and pride in producing neat, thoughtful work
  • Confidence (or willingness to learn) with photography, content creation, or social media planning
  • Reliable timekeeping and the ability to follow tasks through independently once shown
  • Friendly and respectful communication with others in the studio and workshop environment

Relevant degree subjects may include: 

  • Jewellery and Silversmithing, 
  • Fine Art, Design, 
  • Photography, 
  • Textiles
  • Or any creative discipline with an interest in craft and making.
