Movema is an award-winning organisation that connects people and communities, helping nurture a safer and more understanding and tolerant world. Using world dance we give value and support to people who are often overlooked or marginalised in society.

Established in 2009 and operating as a Charity since 2021, based and operating in Liverpool and Bristol, Movema was co-founded by four female dance artists from diverse cultural backgrounds and has engaged over 100,000 people over the past 15 years.

Movema's vision is that World dance is celebrated and enables people to create art, improve their health and wellbeing and heal divisions in and between communities. Our strategic pillars are:

  • Co-Production: Centre the voices of our communities and artists to produce and deliver a culturally inclusive and accessible programme of world dance activities, co-produced with our communities.
  • Organisational resilience: Diverse income streams, enhance internal systems for efficiency, innovate products and services to thrive in a challenging socio-economic environment.
  • Talent Development: Invest in and develop our people to support individual wellbeing, align with our EDI ethos and community arts excellence.
  • Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion: Embed these principles in all areas and levels to ensure accessibility and promote representation throughout the organisation.

We achieve social change through creative approaches, constantly innovating to deepen our impact and expand our reach.
