Duties and responsibilities
- To utilise technical experience to generate analytical performance data that can be used to validate an in vitro diagnostic device for diagnosis of urinary tract infections
- Provide technical support and assistance to laboratory personnel by setting up and reading basic microbiology tests such as serial dilutions and colony counts, diffusion and dilution susceptibility tests using specified instrumentation and equipment according to Standard Operating Procedures.
- Produce reliable and accurate records of laboratory work performed and results obtained in appropriate laboratory books according to Good Documentation Practice, to facilitate data analysis and interpretation by senior laboratory staff.
- Communicate scientific information appropriately.
- Prepare pure cultures of routine organisms representing typical urinary tract infection isolates.
Skills and experience
- Interest and aptitude for diagnostic microbiology, AST and AMR
- Previous laboratory work experience as part of an undergraduate degree
- Ability to work to deadlines
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to improve skills
- Travel to Deeside
