The internship position will assist the lawyers within Legal Services, Law & Governance Directorate, the in-house legal team of Liverpool City Council. Our Service have specialist lawyers in the key areas of public sector law in the following teams: Property & Regeneration, Commercial Law, Planning & Regulatory, Adult Social Care & Litigation, Child Protection, and Legal Practice & Business. 

This internship position will be based within the Property & Regeneration Team which primarily deals with property disposals and acquisitions, regeneration projects, development agreements, and community assets.

Duties and responsibilities
Main duties will all be subject to appropriate supervision and will include:

  • Assisting/drafting Land Registry applications.
  • Assisting/drafting non-complex property agreements
  • Assisting/drafting non-complex Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 notices 
  • Arrange for execution/sealing of documents in readiness for completion
  • Attend to post completion formalities including advising Clients of completion and allocation of funds
  • Research case law• Deal with non-complex land/commercial property queries• Assisting with closing/archiving files
  • Administrative tasks, including proof reading, copy typing and minute taking.

Skills and experience
Knowledge of property/commercial property law is preferred but not essential. 

 
No specific qualifications or experience are required but the candidate should be:
  • Willing to learn•
  • Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with various professions and agencies, using standard Microsoft applications
  • Able to work under pressure and to meet guidelines•
  • Able to take comprehensive and accurate notes of meetings
