Role

If you are a postgraduate or undergraduate student with strong interpersonal skills who would like to help other students with their IT requirements, then a job in the Smart Bar team could be just the opportunity for you.

 

Start Date: As soon as possible

End Date: 19th June 2026

Working Hours: 3 - 7 hours per week to be arranged flexibly

Pay Rate: £12.77 per hour

Holiday Pay Rate: £1.54 per hour

Location: UoN Campuses

Dress Code: Smart Casual

Duties and responsibilities

Following comprehensive training, you’ll become a Smart Bar Assistant ready to offer support to other students on a range of IT services, including, connecting to the Wi-Fi, Registration (Nottingham Hub), Microsoft 365, using the university online services (Portal, Remote Desktop), printing documents, etc.

Skills and experience

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal English language skills
  • Excellent customer service skills and experience of team working
  • Knowledge of using Windows and macOS (desirable)Knowledge of using latest smart phones and apps
  • IT literate and familiar with a wide range of IT services offered by the university, including Microsoft Teams
  • Excellent timekeeping and ability to work within frameworks and procedures
  • Registered as a student at the University of Nottingham for the duration of the programme
