Description
Role
We are looking for an experienced University Rugby Opportunities Coordinator Instructor - working 6 hours per week with a mixture of campus and remote working.
We would highly encourage students who meet the person specification to apply.
To design, manage, and deliver the Midlands Rugby Development Hub on behalf of DMU, ensuring high-quality opportunities for student participation, increased engagement in women’s rugby, and strong collaboration across universities and local clubs. The Coordinator will be responsible for leading on communications, fixture planning, event logistics, and monitoring impact against agreed KPIs.
Duties and responsibilities
Fixture & Event Coordination
- Design and deliver a programme of fixtures, friendly matches, and a student 7s tournament.
- Work with activators to ensure smooth delivery of “Try Rugby” and women’s rugby events.
Communication & Relationship Management
- Act as the main point of contact between DMU, participating universities, RFU representatives, and local clubs.
- Provide clear and timely updates to stakeholders, including promotional support.
Logistics & Operations
- Organise facilities, equipment, officials, and volunteer support for hub events.
- Ensure safe, inclusive, and welcoming environments for all participants.
Monitoring & Evaluation
- Track attendance, participation, and engagement data against agreed KPIs. Produce reports to DMUsport and partners on progress, outcomes, and impact.
Development & Sustainability
- Support pathways for students into community rugby clubs.
- Contribute ideas for enhancing inclusivity, visibility, and long-term growth of the Rugby Development Hub.
Skills and experience
Essential
• Experience of delivering group exercise sessions in Rugby.
• Relevant qualification(s) or certification in the activity area.
• Ability to plan and deliver engaging, inclusive sessions for students of all abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with participants.
• Commitment to creating a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment.
• Reliable, organised, and able to work independently.
• Understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity, and inclusion.
• Willingness to record attendance, provide feedback, and support the development of DMUsport programmes.
Desirable
• Experience working in a higher education or community sport setting.
• Knowledge of student wellbeing and participation in sport/physical activity.
• Ability to adapt delivery to meet the needs of diverse groups.
• First Aid qualification.
• Awareness of environmental sustainability within sport and physical activity delivery.
