Description

Role

We are looking for an experienced Pilates Instructor - working 1 day per week - Mondays 7.30pm - 8.30pm
 
We would highly encourage students who meet the person specification to apply.
 
To deliver accessible and empowering weekly Pilates sessions for students, supporting wellbeing, relaxation, and physical activity. The Instructor will ensure a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space that encourages participants of all abilities to engage, learn, and benefit from yoga practices.

Duties and responsibilities

Session Delivery & Planning

•      Deliver Pilates sessions that are safe, inclusive, and adaptable for varying abilities.

•      Provide modifications and alternatives to ensure accessibility.

 Communication & Relationship Management

•      Create a supportive environment that encourages student participation.

•      Liaise with DMUsport staff to support session promotion and participant engagement.

Logistics & Operations

•      Manage safe use of facilities and equipment in line with health and safety requirements.

•      Establish a calm, positive atmosphere in line with yoga practice principles.

Monitoring & Evaluation

•      Record attendance and share feedback on student engagement and wellbeing outcomes.

•      Highlight opportunities to expand or adapt delivery to meet student needs.

Development & Sustainability

•      Encourage ongoing participation in DMUsport wellbeing programmes.

•      Contribute ideas to increase visibility, inclusivity, and long-term growth of yoga activity.

Skills and experience

Essential

  • Experience of delivering group exercise sessions in Pilates.
  • Relevant qualification(s) or certification in the activity area.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging, inclusive sessions for students of all abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with participants.
  • Commitment to creating a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment.
  • Reliable, organised, and able to work independently.
  • Understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Willingness to record attendance, provide feedback, and support the development of DMUsport programmes.

Desirable

  • Experience working in a higher education or community sport setting.
  • Knowledge of student wellbeing and participation in sport/physical activity.
  • Ability to adapt delivery to meet the needs of diverse groups.
  • First Aid qualification.
  • Awareness of environmental sustainability within sport and physical activity delivery.
