Role

This is a 12-week paid internship opportunity in collaboration with Made Smarter, as part of the WMG Internship Programme. Based at Wright Rubber Products Ltd in Staffordshire.

As part of the internship, you will play a key role in supporting the group’s digital marketing strategy.

As a Digital Marketing Intern, you will play a key role in strengthening Wright Rubber’s online presence and e-commerce capabilities, improving digital lead generation, and enhancing overall brand awareness.

This hands-on internship will involve supporting the company’s digital marketing and e-commerce strategy, including activities such as SEO/AEO/SEM, content creation, social media management, analytics tracking, email campaigns, and website updates. You will also contribute to the setup, optimisation, and management of Wright Rubber’s e-commerce and online marketing channels, helping the business reach new audiences and streamline its digital customer journey.

You’ll build confidence in using marketing tools and platforms, develop your creative and analytical skills, and gain hands-on experience in the fast-paced world of technology and automation.

Duties and responsibilities

Key Areas of Responsibility

1. E-commerce Setup & Management

  • Support the setup and optimisation of the company’s e-commerce presence, including product listings, pricing, and descriptions.
  • Assist with uploading and maintaining product information, imagery, and categories on the website.
  • Monitor site performance, product visibility, and online enquiries to support sales growth.

2. Content Strategy & Development

  • Contribute to the development of a cohesive content strategy aligned with the company’s digital marketing goals.
  • Create and repurpose marketing materials such as blogs, product features, case studies, newsletters, and social media posts.

3. Digital Marketing & Analytics

  • Assist in planning and executing digital campaigns across SEO, SEM, and social channels.
  • Use analytics tools to track website and campaign performance, generating insight reports for continuous improvement.
  • Support data collection for key performance metrics such as reach, engagement, and conversion rates.

4. Website & Communication Support

  • Support website content updates and enhancements to improve user experience and navigation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather updates, news, and materials for digital publishing.
  • Ensure all web and communication assets adhere to brand and accessibility guidelines.

5. General Marketing Support

  • Work alongside the Marketing Manager and company supervisor on day-to-day campaign activities.
  • Contribute creative ideas to strengthen brand awareness and digital reach.
  • Participate in review meetings with the WMG mentor to share progress and learning outcomes.

Skills and experience

We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic about digital marketing, willing to learn, and ready to get stuck in with a range of creative and analytical tasks. The right candidate will be curious, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. You must be available to work full time (36.5 hours per week) for 12 weeks. We cannot consider part time for this role.

Essential:

  • You must hold or have graduated by the time you start, a degree in Marketing, Communications, Media, Business, or any related subject including social sciences, business management in engineering etc.
  • Experience in e-commerce setup and online sales management (e.g., product listings, pricing, customer journey).
  • Basic understanding of digital marketing principles including SEO, social media, and content marketing.
  • Confident written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and brand tone.
  • Ability to create and manage engaging digital content such as web copy, blogs, newsletters, and social media posts
  • Organised, proactive, and able to work both independently and in a team.
  • Understanding of digital marketing metrics and analytics (e.g. LinkedIn Analytics, Google Analytics)
  • Ability to work on-site.

Desirable:

  • Experience using Shopify, WordPress, or similar website tools.
  • Experience with tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or video editing software
  • Experience with photography, videography, or editing visual content
  • A creative mindset with an eye for visual and brand consistency
  • Familiarity with WordPress, SharePoint, or other content management systems
  • Previous experience working in a marketing or communications role through a placement, internship, university project, or part-time role
  • Interest in the engineering, manufacturing sector
