Description

Role
The Research Assistant will support the delivery of a pilot research project evaluating the feasibility and acceptability of a digital sleep intervention for NHS shift-working healthcare staff. The post holder will work closely with the Principal Investigator to assist with recruitment, participant coordination, data collection, data management, and project administration. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in health research, sleep science, occupational health, or digital interventions.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Support participant recruitment through online and professional networks.
  • Conduct eligibility screening and manage consent procedures.
  • Provide participants with onboarding instructions for the study.
  • Schedule, administer and manage data collection time points, through online surveys/questionnaires (on Qualtrics), and monitor engagement and retention.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with data protection (GDPR)
  • Assist with data entry, cleaning, and preparation for analysis.
  • Contribute to the preparation of study materials, reports and dissemination activities.
  • Liaise with the research team to ensure smooth day-to-day study operations (this may include occasional Teams meetings outside of normal working hours with collaborators based in Melbourne, Australia).

Skills and experience

  • Experience supporting (and/or working independently on) research projects and data collection in psychology, health sciences, behavioural science, or a related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Competence in using Excel/CSV, SPSS and Qualtrics for data management.
  • Ability to manage participant interactions sensitively and professionally.
  • Understanding of research ethics and data protection requirements.
  • Interest in sleep, health, digital health, or occupational wellbeing (desirable).

Remote work (requires access to personal computer/laptop).
