Duties and responsibilities
1. Deliver high-quality careers information, advice, and guidance to students.
2. Develop, deliver, and maintain a range of services and resources to enhance the vocational awareness and employability skills of UCB students.
3. Work collaboratively with colleagues and departments across the university to enhance the student experience, with a particular focus on careers support.
4. Ensure that all relevant databases (e.g. ProMonitor, TargetConnect Casebook) are kept accurate and up to date.
5. Ensure all practices comply with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
6. Commit to upholding the principles of Safeguarding and the PREVENT agenda.
7. Undertake other duties commensurate with the grade of the role as required from time to time.
Specific Responsibilities:
UCAS Personal Statement Feedback & Drop-ins
• Provide constructive feedback and actionable suggestions for improvement.
• Ensure personal statements are clear, well-structured, and free from errors.
UCAS Application Support
• Guide students through the UCAS application process.
• Check applications for accuracy and completeness.
• Liaise with tutors as required (e.g. references, course information).
CV Support
• Review CVs and offer individualised feedback.
• Deliver CV clinics to support larger groups of students.
Student Consultations
• Provide one-to-one guidance on UCAS applications, CVs, and employability resources (e.g. job search strategies).
• Offer personalised, tailored advice to meet the individual needs of students.
Workshops and Group Sessions
• Support the delivery of CV clinics and other employability workshops.
• Contribute to group sessions and respond effectively to student queries.
Administrative Duties
• Maintain accurate records of student consultations.
• Track application progress and follow up with students as required.
