Role
Unitemps are recruiting for a Research Assistant within The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction department. The role is to work the date of Monday 17th November 2025 and will run until Friday 27th February 2026 part time at 11.25 hours per week. Payment is set at £20.57+ holiday pay per hour and the role will be HOME based.
Duties and responsibilities
The Research Assistant will provide technical and analytical support across the design, testing, and deployment of an online interactive narrative and behavioural experiment.
- Develop and integrate interactive story content using Twine, Qualtrics, and GitHub.
- Implement narrative logic, branching structures, and experimental conditions using JavaScript or equivalent scripting tools.
- Conduct usability testing and quality assurance to ensure functionality, accessibility, and accurate data capture.
- Support the setup, piloting, and launch of the online behavioural experiment via Prolific.
- Perform quantitative data cleaning, analysis, and visualisation, using statistical tools such as R, SPSS, or Python.
- Contribute to interpreting results and preparing summary outputs for dissemination.
- Maintain clear documentation of technical workflows, code, and analytical processes.
- Conduct a targeted literature review on relevant topics such as AI-enabled surveillance and privacy.
- Support the running of an online user co-design workshop.
- Participate in regular online progress meetings with the academic team.
Skills and experience
Essential Criteria
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in psychology, HCI, behavioural science, computer science, or a related field.
- Experience using web-based research or interactive tools (e.g. Twine, Qualtrics, Gorilla, jsPsych, or similar).
- Familiarity with JavaScript or scripting logic for interactive design and data collection.
- Competence in quantitative data analysis, including cleaning, descriptive statistics, and inferential testing (e.g. using R, SPSS, or Python).
- Working knowledge of HTML/CSS and use of GitHub or other version control systems.
- Strong ability to test, troubleshoot, and document interactive digital content.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills, and ability to work independently in a remote environment.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience with Prolific or other online participant recruitment platforms.
- Experience in UX research or human–computer interaction.
- Interest in AI ethics, privacy, or digital surveillance.
- Ability to produce clear data visualisations or support preparation of research outputs.
