The Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) Assistant will play a key role in supporting the delivery of the organisation’s D&I Plan, contributing to the development, implementation, and communication of initiatives that promote diversity and inclusion across the university. The role involves research, project support, and administrative responsibilities, working closely with the D&I team.

Duties and responsibilities

1. Reviews of contents on the D&I website and webpages

2. Research on D&I best practices to inform D&I initiatives.

3. In partnership with the Diversity and Inclusion Advisor, carry out a review and analyse of the outcomes of our funded D&I projects identifying key learning points and opportunities for embedding successful initiatives into policy, procedure, and practice.

4. Advertise the Diversity and Inclusion e-learning module for students (hosted on Canvas), ensuring students engage with the module.

5. Support the delivery of training and workshops, including scheduling, logistics, evaluation, and participant feedback.

6. Support internal development programmes, such as the internal work experience scheme, apprenticeship programme and reciprocal mentoring programmes, ensuring smooth coordination and running of the programmes.#

7. Support the relaunch and management of D&I social media platforms, ensuring regular, inclusive, and impactful content that reflects D&I priorities.

8. Assist in the promotion of D&I events, campaigns, and initiatives through internal and external communication channels.

9. Assist with setup and delivery of D&I Awards, including coordination with staff networks, managing nominations and shortlisting processes, and event support.

Administrative Support:

• Minutes / note-taking and follow-up actions at D&I meetings and focus groups.

• Assist in the creation of presentations and reports.

• Support the team in the design and analysis of surveys and feedback exercises related to D&I.

• Undertake any other duties that contribute to the effective delivery of the Diversity and Inclusion Plan.

Skills and experience
An interest in matters relating to Diversity and Inclusion.

 
Experience in delivering presentations.
 
Ability to use Microsoft Office applications including MS Word, Powerpoint and Teams.
 
Ability to work as both part of a team and independently. 
 
Good communication skills.
 
Good organisation skills. 

Experience in graphic design would be advantageous.
