Role

The Research Assistant will support a project on the effects of start-up competition prizes on firm outcomes in the UK. The role involves systematic coding of online and archival materials on UK start-up competitions, focusing on competition design, award structures, and presentation of results.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Review and code websites and archived materials for UK start-up competitions.
  • Record information on competition design, award structures, eligibility criteria, and presentation of winners/finalists.
  • Capture and store screenshots of relevant webpages.
  • Enter data into structured Excel/CSV spreadsheets following a coding manual.
  • Maintain clear and organized documentation of all coded data and sources.

Skills and experience

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience with Excel or CSV data entry and management.
  • Familiarity with online research methods and web archiving.
  • Ability to work independently and follow a systematic coding protocol.
  • Interest in entrepreneurship, innovation, or economic sociology (preferred).
