Description
Role
Our client is an Independent Boarding School and is seeking a Boarders Chef. The Boarding House Chef will provide quality, nutritious food to students who board at the school.
The Boarding House Chef will ensure an exceptional standard of food by meal planning, ordering, stocking and delivering fantastic cuisine. They will also support with the delivery of exceptional standards of food for functions and events.
Duties and responsibilities
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficient food production and preparation.
- Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and training to enhance their skills.
- Develop and design innovative menus that reflect current culinary trends.
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in accordance with regulations.
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Manage inventory and order supplies as needed to maintain stock levels.
- Monitor food quality and presentation, making adjustments as necessary.
- Foster a positive team environment that encourages collaboration and creativity.
- The provision of quality nutritious food for our boarding community
- The supervision of the kitchen and the kitchen brigade.
- Assisting the Head Chef in ensuring that the foundation fulfils its requirements to a high standard.
- Plan menus that incorporate a variety of global cuisines, accommodating dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Collaborate with residents to understand their specific food needs and preferences.
- To ensure that all food operators adhere to current allergen legislation and Natasha’s Law •
- To ensure correct HACCP, risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work to comply with Government legislation is undertaken and reviewed regularly throughout the Foundation.
Skills and experience
- Proven experience as a Chef or in a similar culinary role within a restaurant or hospitality setting.
- Knowledge of International Cuisine
- Strong supervisory experience with the ability to manage a diverse team effectively.
- Extensive knowledge of food preparation techniques and cooking methods.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices.
- Previous experience in menu development and cost control is advantageous.
- A passion for culinary arts and commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences.
