Role
University of Salford is looking for a Student Social Media Assistant for the Library (Only accepting University of Salford students) To provide an authentic student-led voice across our platforms. Expand the volume and variety of content the Library can produce. Assess and help redesign resource webpages to improve usability, accessibility, and appeal. Reduce pressure on the Outreach Officer, allowing greater focus on high-priority initiatives such as training, academic engagement, partnerships, and impact storytelling to promote library collections. 

  • Primary base: On campus, with flexibility for editing/remote work 
  • Duration: 8 hours a week for 7 months
  • Workload focus: Producing timely, trend-led content, especially during peak periods such as exam seasons

Duties and responsibilities

  • Create trend-led content to promote library collections and resources on platforms like TikTok and Instagram.
  • Review and refresh webpages to make them more accessible, engaging, and student-friendly.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Officer on campaign briefs while bringing your own creative ideas to the table.
  • Leverage your student voice to make Library communications relatable and authentic.

Skills and experience

  • Proven experience creating engaging content for social media (TikTok, Instagram Reels, or similar). 
  • An understanding of what makes content resonate with students. 
  • A good eye for design, trends, and storytelling. 
  • Confidence working independently and meeting deadlines. 
  • Enthusiasm for making Library collections more visible and accessible.
