Role

As part of this role, you will take part in the User Experience testing of both Games, Software and Tech through Warwick’s UX testing facility in the Fusion Esports Centre. As part of the activity, you will be either testing pre-released games, software or tech for a specified period. Playtesting will be followed by interviews/surveys with the industry partner/team that has booked the test.

The work will be ad-hoc and booked dependent on the frequency of requests and other requirements such as demographics a company may want. Therefore, we need as many and as diverse a play tester pool as possible to meet company needs. If selected, you will need to be available for half or full days during certain weekdays, so please factor this in when applying. Whilst we will consider all applications regardless of availability, we will have preferences for those with half day and full day availability over the week.

You do not need to have competitive gaming/Esports experience, but where possible this is desirable as we have a number of clients that test Esports focused games & tech.

Duties and responsibilities

  • The main responsibility is confidentiality – you will be required to sign individual /non-disclosure agreements with companies before the testing session begins. These NDA’s are signed directly with the companies and you – and testing cannot happen without them.
  • You must not share the details of testing or the products you have tested, unless asked to do so by industry partners or Fusion centre staff (as part of a promotional campaign).
  • You must be willing to hand over mobile phones or any devices capable of recording imagery or sound, prior to the test beginning.
  • When you sign up for a test session, you must be able to commit to the duration of the session.
  • You must turn up to agreed testing sessions on time.

Skills and experience

  • Experience of Esports games is desirable – but not essential.
  • Interest or casual game experience
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality is essential
