Role

To support University of Leicester Heritage Hub (https://le.ac.uk/research/natural-heritage/heritage-hub) events and programmes September 2025 – August 2026. These will include heritage events on campus and across the city and region. Some events will take place at weekends. Ambassadors will contribute to enhancing the profile and reputation of the University, working with heritage partners (e.g. museums and local heritage groups) helping new and diverse audiences to connect with the University’s heritage expertise and assets, including publicly accessible collections and archives. Ambassadors will gain experience in these areas: 

  • Communication 
  • Problem solving 
  • Teamwork 
  • Event planning and management
  • Heritage projects and partnerships

 

Duties and responsibilities
The role of the Heritage Hub Student Ambassador is to support with planning, set up and delivery of heritage events and programmes. Duties include:

  • Supporting staff with planning and set-up
  • Welcoming and directing visitors 
  • Providing support for information stands and hands-on activities
  • Taking visitors on tours
Plus, other roles and responsibilities as delegated. 

Skills and experience
Essential

  • Current student or alumni
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Ability to communicate with a range of people
  • Friendly and welcoming

Desirable

  • Experience in public-facing or customer service roles
  • Enthusiastic about heritage
* Criteria used to shortlist candidates for interview

Location
Campus, city, Leicestershire and neighbouring counties, occasionally online
