Role
The University of Leicester is seeking a friendly, efficient, and proactive Front of House Sports Centre Receptionist to join our Sport & Active Life team.
As the first point of contact for members and visitors, the Front of House plays a vital role in ensuring a high-quality experience and smooth operation of our facilities. The successful candidate will bring exceptional communication skills, a passion for sport, and a dedication to outstanding customer service, supporting our commitment to a welcoming, Inclusive and active environment.
Duties and responsibilities
You will be the first point of contact for visitors, members, and callers, providing a friendly and professional service at all times. You will respond to member enquiries, offer accurate information about facilities and programs, and help create a welcoming atmosphere. You will also manage facility access, ensuring only authorised users enter and that safety policies are followed.
You will complete general administrative tasks such as data entry, record keeping, and handling sensitive information in line with GDPR. You will process electronic payments for memberships, bookings, and retail sales, and assist with opening and closing procedures to ensure the facility is secure.
Skills and experience
You will have a minimum of five GCSEs (grades A–C or equivalent) and proven experience in a customer service role, ideally within a sports or leisure environment. Strong IT skills are essential, with confidence using Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook; experience with booking systems will be an advantage. A sound understanding of health and safety practices, along with a commitment to maintaining high standards, is also required.
You will be highly organised, able to manage multiple tasks in a busy setting, and demonstrate excellent attention to detail, particularly when handling sensitive information. A proactive and team-oriented approach is essential, as is flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends, to meet operational needs.

Danielle Brown Sports Centre or Roger Bettles Sports Centre, University of Leicester (Potential for cross-site working, but a base site will be allocated to you if successful)
