Role

Unitemps are acting as an employment business, supplying temporary workers, in relation to this vacancy.
 
Murphy and Son is a supplier to the brewing and beverage industry worldwide. 
 
This role is to work within our Microbiology Department to support one of our clients as the look to verify the microbiological detection function of their innovative particle size analyser. This will involve working on a number of experiments for a number of beverages and applications of our clients apparatus.
 
Start Date: 27/10/25
Length: A minimum of two months 
Working Hours: 16 hours per week, flexible between the hours 8.00am - 16.30pm
Pay Rate: £13.50 per hour
Holiday Pay: £1.63 per hour
Location: Nottingham
Dress Code: Casual

Duties and responsibilities

  • Play an important role in the design of experiments with our Lead Microbiologist and our Customer and help to design subsequent experiments.
  • Inoculating and verifying cell numbers using indicator organisms in a number of different beverages.   
  • Plating of samples onto a number of agar plates. 
  • Analysis of plates and reporting of results and findings.

Skills and experience

  • Knowledge and competency in Microbiological techniques especially aseptic technique.   
  • Comfortable working in a microbiology environment.   
  • Ability to liaise directly with our client to understand their requirements to support and disseminate findings for each project.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and manage time accordingly.
