Role
This is 12- week paid internship opportunity with Recyclever, as part of the WMG Internship Programme. The intern will support Recyclever’s API integration tasks between Reverse Vending Machines (RVMs) and multiple system operators’ platforms.
Working under the supervision of Recyclever’s software architect, the intern will be involved in API mapping, payload testing, and integration documentation, gaining valuable hands-on experience in real-world software development and systems integration projects.
As part of the Programme, you will also benefit from weekly supervision and support by WMG experts throughout the duration of the project.
This internship will help you develop skills in:
- API integration and testing in a commercial environment
- Working with REST APIs, JSON payloads, and tools such as Insomnia
- Mapping and validating data requirements for live systems
- Deployment documentation (e.g., UML sequence diagrams, data flows)
- Collaborating with software architects and system operators on digital transformation projects

Recyclever is an innovative technology company that designs and deploys reverse vending machines (RVMs). Their solutions enable retailers and organisations to support Deposit Return Schemes (DRS), helping consumers recycle plastic bottles and cans easily. Duties and responsibilities
You will support Recyclever’s software team, with responsibilities including:
- Mapping API requirements against RVM transaction data
- Drafting and validating test payloads (e.g., JSON)
- Maintaining an integration tracker (status, data fields, outcomes)
- Supporting development of unit tests and validation scripts (e.g., Python)
- Assisting with deployment documentation and data flow mapping
- Preparing test data, logs, and reports for operator testing cycles
- Contributing to voucher/data validation for retailer and compliance needs
- Finalising documentation, trackers, and recommendations for handover
Skills and experience
Essential
- Student or graduate in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Basic knowledge of APIs, JSON, and software integration concepts
- Experience using tools such as Insomnia, Postman, or similar for API testing
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills to share findings with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Desirable
- Familiarity with Python or similar scripting languages
- Experience with UML diagrams or documenting system architectures
- Understanding of databases and data validation processes
- Interest in sustainability and digital technologies in recycling
