Description

Role
This position offers an exciting opportunity to support the Centre for International Training and Education during its peak short course season from January to March 2026. The post holder will work closely with the Business Development Manager to administer the full cycle of student short courses. It’s a great chance to gain experience in a busy, friendly university department with a strong focus on customer service and international engagement.

Start date: Tuesday 6th January 2026

Duration: 10 weeks.

End date: Friday 13th March 2026

Duties and responsibilities

The role involves coordinating course arrangements in collaboration with programme directors, tutors, and administrative staff. This includes planning and booking events, social activities, and travel, and liaising with suppliers by phone and email.

The post holder will manage communications with students and staff via Blackboard and email, and maintain accurate records for the “Study Buddy” student workforce. They will also support student registration and welcome activities, respond to enquiries, and provide pre-departure advice.

Additional responsibilities include maintaining programme databases, providing general student support, and acting as a chaperone during excursions. The role also covers airport transfers, accommodation logistics, social activity facilitation, and assisting with course reports and certificates. Ad hoc administrative support to the wider team is also expected.

Skills and experience

Candidates should have a minimum of five GCSEs (Grades A-C) or equivalent qualifications or experience. Strong IT skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are essential, along with experience in accurate record keeping.

Familiarity with university life, ideally at the University of Leicester, and experience of studying or living abroad are desirable. A basic understanding of and empathy with the needs of international students, as well as cultural awareness, are important.

Applicants should be confident working with students from diverse nationalities and backgrounds, and comfortable liaising with external organisations such as suppliers, partner universities, and agents.

Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential. A positive attitude toward team collaboration and a willingness to work outside normal hours—including evenings, weekends, and early mornings for registration or airport pickups—are also required.

Location
University of Leicester. The role will be based at Stamford Court in Oadby (opposite John Foster hall) with occasional work on main campus.
