Description

Role
As a member of the Food & Beverage operations team, you’ll deliver outstanding customer service to a broad range of customers. You’ll assist in the effective operation of the Food & Beverage offer in a variety of duties, which could include serving food to customers, processing transactions on the till, basic food and beverage preparation, maintaining presentation standards and supervised kitchen tasks. You’ll do everything possible to maximise sales so that the profit can be reinvested into continuing to improve our University’s Food and Beverage spaces and offers.

Duties and responsibilities
Exceptional service 

You’ll deliver exceptional service, every time, for all customers by understanding what they want and finding ways to go the extra mile for them. You’ll maintain high standards of presentation of food and drink at all times. 
Great teamwork
You’ll help to create a great sense of teamwork with your enthusiasm and supportive approach, working with other staff to achieve our objectives and communicate our key messages to customers. You’ll start to develop your coaching skills by supporting your team to contribute to the success of the operation. 
Maximising sales You’ll seek out opportunities to sell products by developing your product knowledge to share with customers, be aware of sales targets and use every opportunity to exceed them. You’ll process till transactions with efficiency and friendliness. 
Preparation and service You’ll be involved in the preparation and serving of food and drinks in line with defined recipes, specifications and portion sizes, ensuring that you follow all safety and hygiene requirements. 
Standards of preparation 
You’ll present the Food & Beverage operations to agreed standards so that customers enjoy a comfortable and welcoming environment. You’ll undertake washing up and general cleaning duties to maintain high presentation and cleanliness at all times. 
Working safely 
You’ll ensure you comply with all relevant legislation, University and Warwick Food Group policies to minimise the risk to staff, students and customers. 

Skills and experience

  • Passion for delivering excellent levels of customer service and communication (E)
  • Positive can-do attitude, willing to learn new skills and work in multiple locations (E)
  • Attention to detail and ability to closely follow instructions and policies (E)
  • The ability to prioritise work and work in a fast-paced environment (E)
  • Enjoys working as part of a team (E)
  • Ability to work under own initiative (E)
  • Good level of numeracy and the ability to handle transactions (E)
  • Good level of literacy; the ability to read, write and fluently speak the English language (E) 

 

  • Barista training or experience in making coffee (D)
  • Level 2 Food Safety Certificate or equivalent (D) 

The role holder will be required to work in one or more of the Warwick Food Group outlets as required by business needs. The role involves physical tasks such as working on your feet, carrying, lifting etc. The role holder may be required to work in other University departments and/or perform any other reasonable tasks if required by business needs.
