THE ROLE 

On behalf of our Leicester Client, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to teach a primary curriculum and the Ruth Miskin literacy programme to work up to 18 hours per week, working Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. 

You will join a small, supportive team working with a male client with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and associated challenging behaviour. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting both educational and personal development within the home environment and out in the community.

You will be working alongside two other teachers and supported at all times by a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, ensuring a collaborative and safe working environment.

You would be required to work up to 18 hours per week, working Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from our client's home address (LE3).

Hourly Pay: £33.63

Holiday pay: £4.06

Expected start date: ASAP

Expected end date: ongoing

Duties and responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored teaching sessions in line with the client’s needs and goals.
  • Implement strategies to manage challenging behaviour effectively and positively.
  • Plan and adapt lessons using the Ruth Miskin reading programme.
  • Work collaboratively with the family, other teachers, and support staff to ensure a consistent and supportive approach.
  • Promote independence, confidence, and progress in both educational and everyday life skills.

Skills and experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience teaching in a special school setting.
  • Proven experience working with young people with ASD, ADHD, and challenging behaviour.
  • Training or experience in delivering the Ruth Miskin reading programme.
  • Excellent communication, patience, and resilience.
