Description
Role
To provide a polite, thoughtful, effective, and efficient service for the Co-op shop.
Duties and responsibilities
Ensure the shop is adequately stocked, which may involve:
- Replenishing displaying stock to planogram following the SOP
- Re-stocking the shelves throughout the day to ensure they are filled to an appropriate level Serve customers in a thoughtful polite, considerate manner
- Monitoring and supporting customers with use of self-service checkouts, approving age related sales and reductions
- Scanning items through served tills and taking payment
- Take time to speak to customers, understand their feedback and any opportunity for potential community links
- Responding quickly and positively to customer questions Ensure the shop is maintained and presented in a ‘customer ready’ state.
- Cleaning up rubbish
- Ensuring items are in the right place
- Clearing up spillages, maintaining a consciousness of Health and Safety implications
Skills and experience
- Must be aged 18 or over to sell restricted products such as alcohol and tobacco.
- Eligibility to work in the UK (proof of right to work required).
- Ability to follow health & safety, food hygiene, and age-restricted sales regulations.
Desirable skills and experience (training will be provided):
- Previous experience in retail, hospitality, or customer service.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently. Basic numeracy skills for handling cash and operating tills.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends.
