Description:
Your role as an ambassador is vital on campus to promote and enhance the reputation of the university to prospective students and their influencers by dealing professionally, accurately and empathetically with all customers.
As an ambassador, you will be an enthusiastic DMU student who has a passion for showcasing the university and promoting the University ethos positively to prospective students by sharing your experience and offering your support in a friendly and professional way. You will work closely with the directorate of Marketing and Communications, who are responsible for the brand, communication, reputation, CRM, engagement, web and events of the University. 
Your role will be to directly support the overall marketing strategy activities and objectives around student recruitment and widening access. You will also be required to support faculties and department with their aims and objectives.
 
Hours & Shifts: 
You will be able to sign up for specific shifts based on your availability, and all shifts will be advertised as expressions of interest or first-come, first-served basis or manager’s selection. There are no set hours per week. Hours will vary from month to month depending on the business needs. Some periods may be busier than others, so this role would be suitable if you are a student looking for ad hoc hours to work around your timetable. Examples of some of the shifts that you may be offered include helping out on open days, showing school students around campus, taking part in marketing campaigns for the university, and much more!

Duties and responsibilities
• To be a competent, motivated, and professional representative of the university at all times when dealing with both internal and external stakeholders.

• To maintain a welcoming, positive and friendly atmosphere for all visitors, guests and delegates of the university. 
• To be flexible, responsive, and understanding of new information given by DMU staff. 
• To be open and adaptable to change and where necessary, be willing to respond to new and alternative duties. 
• To acknowledge when an enquiry needs referral to a higher authority and to report any issues and concerns such as safeguarding.
• To conduct tours of the De Montfort University Leicester Campus for visitors.
• To represent DMU at promotional events such as Open Days and experience days, in a variety of roles. 
• To provide support via telephone, face to face, digital platforms, email and any other media channels.
• To ensure that all workload has been completed to a high standard and delivered in line with KPIs such as call campaigns and surveys.
• To provide clerical, administrative, promotional, and people/customer focused support to the Marketing and Communications directorate when required. • Demonstrate high standards of service and care putting people and quality at the heart of customer experience and leaving a long-lasting impression. 
• To be aware of appropriate DMU policies and procedures including Safeguarding Children, Data Protection, Manual Handling and Diversity. 
• To inspire the next generation of students of higher education opportunities through widening access activities to under 18 years old. 
• To support and be involved in summer schools in a variety of roles including supervision of small groups of under 18s. 
• To be always committed to the Universities ethos and values such as Equalities and Diversity.
• Student Ambassadors may be required to fulfil other ad-hoc duties as appropriate to their skills.

Skills and experience
Essential: 

• Ability to work on your own as well as a team. 
• PC literate and confident with MS Packages and ability to navigate social media and digital platforms. • Excellent presentation, interpersonal and conversational skills.
• Confident with hitting, exceeding and achieving targets. 
• Desire to go above and beyond. 
• Ability to follow instructions and act upon requests from seniors. 
• Willing to learn and develop new skills. 
• Expectational customer service and care.
• To be proactive with and I can do attitude and resilience
 
. Desirable:
 • Experience of working with young people, families and academics.
 • Experience in speaking and dealing with large groups of people.
