Role

Are you a current University of Northampton student with a passion for your university and a desire to make a difference? 

Are your looking for flexible work which you can fit around your studies and commitments? 

As a UON Student Ambassador, you'll not only get to represent your university by working with our Marketing Team but will also develop crucial skills that are highly valued by employers, including communication, teamwork, and leadership.

This role is perfect for enthusiastic students looking to enhance their CV, meet new people, and hone their marketing, communication, and leadership skills in real-world scenarios.

Duties and responsibilities

As a Student Ambassador, you'll support student recruitment activities and have the opportunity to work with primary and secondary schools, representing the University of Northampton to prospective students. 

Typical tasks include:

• Assisting at open days and interview days, guiding potential students and their guests. 

• Leading campus tours that showcase student life at UON.

• Supporting online webinars, sharing first-hand student experience.

• Delivering compelling presentations to school groups on and off campus. • Representing the University at prestigious external student recruitment exhibitions, including UCAS and UK Uni Search.

• Supporting administrative marketing activity including phone calls, digital media creation, and event evaluations.

Additionally, you'll enhance your skills through our Student Ambassador Development Programme, which may lead to varied job roles and professional development.

Skills and experience

• A current student at the University of Northampton with a passion for sharing their university experience. 

• Confident in holding conversations and giving information about the University and the surrounding Northampton area.

• Proactive, comfortable working independently and able to use initiative to complete tasks.

• Proven ability to work as part of an effective team.

• Excellent communication skills (including English speaking skills) which can be adapted to suit a range of audiences including prospective students, parents, community and industry partners, teachers, children, and young people.

• Excellent time keeping and organisational skills.

• Demonstrable understanding of UON’s key marketing messages including but not limited to the Employment Promise and Laptops, Trips and Internships offer.

Benefits
The rate of pay is £12.60ph with £1.83ph holiday pay. 

Additional information

Location: 

You will be primarily based at University of Northampton’s Waterside campus. If shifts include travel to other locations, we will organise this on your behalf and provide you with the travel plans. 

Benefits: 

Flexible working hours. You apply for the shifts you are available for, allowing you to work around your studies and other commitments. 

Dress Code: 

Ambassadors will be required to wear smart but casual clothes and comfortable shoes. Student Ambassador branded tops and zip up jackets will be provided.

Stage Two:

If you are successful at the application stage, you will be invited to attend an interview workshop session. 

This will be a chance for you to demonstrate your communication skills, teamwork, work readiness and ability to use your initiative. 

The dates and times for the interview workshop sessions are:

• Thursday 16 October from 10am to 1pm

• Monday 20 October from 9am to 12pm

Thursday 23 October from 2.30pm to 5.30pm

We have a limited number of interview spaces on each of these days. Spaces will be filled on a first come first served basis and you must attend the full session.

Successful candidates will be put forward to work with the Events Team, Schools Liaison Team (who work with secondary schools), and the Welcome Team.- An additional interview/training is required to work with the Schools Engagement Team (who work with primary and secondary schools). Further information will be provided to interested successful candidates.
