Description
Role
The Department of Politics and International Studies is looking to appoint an administrator to support Course Support Team in the day to day administration of the taught programmes within the Department and to deliver an outstanding teaching and learning experience for all students. The post holder will be part of a busy team responsible for all aspects of programme administration and for supporting students in navigating academic processes. This role is due to start ASAP and will end on 31/01/26.
NB – due to General Data Protection Regulation issues, this opportunity is not available to current students of the University of Warwick.
Duties and responsibilities
- Provide detailed information and assistance to PAIS students and students taking PAIS modules about all aspects of teaching programmes including: module registration, degree course regulations, student records, class scheduling and attendance, monitoring points, assessment submission, personal tutor system and exams.
- Maintain and develop efficient office procedures, including maintaining student files and lists.
- Provide support to module leaders in the set up and smooth running of modules.
- Liaise with staff across the University involved in programme support.
- Assist with the operation of the assessment process, including setting of assignment deadlines, monitoring of submissions, liaising with academic staff on marking, checking all marks are returned, compiling generic feedback reports and releasing marks and feedback to students.
- Assist with the coordination of the recording of student absenteeism, gathering medical notes and any other necessary paperwork.
- Support the smooth running of student events, such as Open Days, Registration, Induction, Graduation Reception, and other social activities.
- Assist in the compilation of relevant documentation for both new and continuing students, including the production of student handbooks.
- Support any other aspects of programme administration as required.
Skills and experience
- Good general standard of education.
- Mathematics and English GCSE grade A –C (or equivalent) 5-9.
- Excellent organisation skill with a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure.
- Ability to quickly assimilate new systems and processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and cooperatively within a team.
- Ability to handle highly confidential material with discretion.
- Good IT skills, although training will be given.
Location
Hybrid, up to 1 day a week worked remotely.
