Role

Unitemps are recruiting for a Admissions and MSc Programme Administrator. This role has a start date of October 15th and a projected end date of November 30th. This is a full time role at 36.5 hours per week. Payment is set at £19.14 per hour + holiday pay. This role will be UCL hybrid working with 2 days per week from the office and the other days working from home.

The post holder will be a key member of the Teaching & Learning Team and and will be required to establish good working relationships with School and UCL staff with whom they will work closely. The role involves significant contact and communication with students, staff and external stakeholders and a polite, helpful and responsive approach is essential. The post holder will be proactive, flexible and solutions-driven, being able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Duties and responsibilities

The postholder will provide support to the School’s recruitment and admissions processes and support the Taught Postgraduate Programmes. The main areas of the role are:
  • To provide administrative support to student recruitment, enrolment and induction
  • To provide administrative support to students and staff in relation to academic programmes
  • To provide administrative support to student placements
  • To provide administrative support to School committees

Skills and experience

Qualifications, experience and knowledge

  • Educated to a minimum of A Level standard or equivalent (GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above).
  • Excellent IT skills, including experience of using word processing, spreadsheets, email, databases and web browsers.
  • Experience of working in an administrative role within Higher Education or similar educational institution, focusing on programme or admissions support.
  • Experience of using a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) such as Moodle.
  • Experience of committee work and minute-taking.
  • Experience of representing an organisation at events or events organisation.

Skills and abilities

  • Excellent administrative and customer service skills and a proactive and timely approach to providing a quality support service to staff and students.
  • Experience of working independently and managing priorities whilst also being an active member of a team, supporting colleagues and contributing to the effective operation of the team.  
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a good eye for presentation and layout.
  • The ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and stakeholders from around the world.
  • Ability to exercise tact and discretion as appropriate and experience in defusing difficult situations.  
  • Ability to understand and work within set procedures and policies
  • Experience of designing, developing, maintaining, reviewing and improving administrative, management and information systems 
  • Excellent numeracy and data management skills and the ability to present data in an accurate and accessible format.
