Role
Duties and responsibilities
Marketing & Communications
- Help with the creation of engaging marketing content for our clients campaigns, website and newsletters.
- Write and edit copy to ensure consistency and quality across platforms, adapting content for different audiences.
- Support with our Daily Focus project – Staffordshire’s biggest business news service.
- Research and draft daily business news stories and features.
- Upload and format articles on the Daily Focus website and monitor engagement.
- Assist with managing social media channels, creating posts and tracking engagement.
- Plan and schedule posts across multiple platforms.
- Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and enquiries in social media inboxes.
- Support video and photo content production (shooting short clips at events, basic editing, uploading)
- Help plan and record video content and photography for campaigns, events, and member promotion.
- Edit and upload videos for use on social media, website, and presentations.
- Monitor shared email inboxes for inward enquiries and respond or escalate appropriately.
- Support in the preparation of marketing reports and presentations for internal and external use.
Policy & Stakeholder Support
- Support organisation of MP roundtables, forums, and policy-related events.
- Coordinate invitations, registrations, and venue logistics.
- Provide on-the-day support including welcoming attendees, note-taking and hosting where required.
- Follow up with attendees and stakeholders after events.
- Assist with briefings, agendas and note-taking for policy meetings.
- Collate and distribute supporting documents ahead of meetings.
- Take accurate minutes and circulate them in a timely manner.
- Support in maintaining records of actions and decisions.
- Draft content for policy newsletters, blogs, and member updates.
- Conduct background research to inform articles and briefings.
- Proof and format content for clarity and professionalism.
- Liaise with members, stakeholders, and partners to gather stories, case studies and feedback.
- Maintain a database of stakeholder interactions and feedback.
- Respond to general policy-related enquiries via phone, email, or in person.
- Support with monitoring relevant policy developments, government announcements, and consultations and assist the Policy Advisor with preparing reports, consultation responses, or briefing notes for internal and external use.
- Contribute to maintaining strong relationships with local media, MPs, councillors, and business leaders.
- Assist with gathering member feedback, surveys, and basic research to inform policy and communications.
Skills and experience
- Proficient in writing copy, with the ability to adapt tone for news, marketing, and policy audiences.
- Interest in politics, business, and current affairs.
- Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Organised and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience of creating content for social media, newsletters, or websites (personal or professional) is an advantage.
- Able to monitor and summarise key policy or business developments for internal use.
- Practical knowledge of video or digital content production is desirable (training can be provided)
