Description

Role
The Arts and Culture team, support, promote and develop arts and culture activity across the University. We work collaboratively with colleagues to actively engage students, staff and our wider community with an artistically vibrant, academically inspiring and socially engaging, arts and culture programme.

Duties and responsibilities
This is an exciting opportunity to support the events activities, exhibitions, social media and marketing work of the Arts and Culture team. We manage a variety of public events in our campus venues throughout the year, including exhibitions, talks, music and performing arts events, and a series of Canterbury Festival lunchtime concerts. The A&C team runs the box office and our social media channels (Instagram, Tiktok and Threads) and produces blogs, e-newsletters and print marketing material.

We are recruiting a small team of Arts and Culture Interns who will work closely with the Events and Performance Coordinator and the Box Office and Marketing Coordinator, and report to the Head of Arts and Culture. You will support the creation of social media posts and other material aimed specifically at engaging with the student community of CCCU. Support for events will include front of house, box office, artist liaison, stage management and assisting with lighting and sound systems. You will have the opportunity to focus on your preferred areas of interest. Interns will also be able to support the development of exhibitions in our campus galleries.

Regular paid training sessions will be provided, for example: venue orientation, the box office system, front of house procedures, simple technical set-ups, and creating content for social media.

Skills and experience
Ideal candidates will be confident communicators who have some experience of live events, exhibitions, and/or a demonstrable knowledge of creating engaging social media content.

Experience of content creation and management software (e.g. Adobe Suite, Canva, Hootsuite) are desirable but not essential and training will be provided.

The selected candidate will need to be available for some daytime, evening and weekend events on campus.

Location
Canterbury

Additional information

The selected candidate will need to demonstrate eligibility to work in the UK before starting the position. The hours can be worked flexibly around educational and other life commitments, however project deadlines will need to be met. Only current CCCU students and CCCU alumni graduated or are graduating in the 2025 calendar year are eligible to apply for this post.
