Role
The Warwick International Higher Education Academy (WIHEA) leads educational excellence by empowering staff and students to forge meaningful connections and vibrant communities that seek to develop, recognise, and embed outstanding learning and teaching practices.
This role focuses primarily on promoting and developing opportunities for students to connect with WIHEA and will also contribute to enhancing the support that is currently available to help build meaningful staff-student collaborations between WIHEA Fellows, Alumni and Members.
It will involve attending a range of staff and student events to reach the diverse student population within Warwick and on occasion beyond, to promote WIHEA and to create a collection of articles, blogs, podcasts and social media posts to capture and share the community’s activities and achievements. This will involve working with our staff and students to capture feedback and review existing/develop new web resources on our WIHEA Connect space.
It will require excellent communication and relationship building skills and is an ideal role for someone interested in education development and/or gaining further marketing experience.
Duties and responsibilities
- Identify and attend Student events and meetings (such as those organised by SSLC’s, the Student Union including Clubs & Societies, Student Committees, Staff-Student Forums/Groups, etc.) to learn and suggest ways in which WIHEA can link and support to existing staff-student collaborations and promote WIHEA activities.
- Attend WIHEA events and meet with WIHEA’s staff and student community (including WIHEA Fellows, Alumni and Members) to capture stories and feedback to improve the opportunities and support WIHEA offers.
- Assist with developing the structure, content and maintenance of the WIHEA Connect web pages, to enable WIHEA to connect across and beyond its community and that the space builds, enhances and celebrates connections. Create web-based case studies, articles, pod casts, blogs and other resources to share and support staff-student collaborations
- Develop WIHEA’s social media presence, plan campaigns and produce regular posts to raise awareness of all WIHEA’s activities and celebrate the achievements of staff and students.
- Attend and contribute to WIHEA Learning Circles, to provide a student perspective and work with Leads to seek ways in which Learning Circles can embrace a wider Student Voice.
- Assist the WIHEA Team to empower and support Student Fellows who lead and/or contribute to projects funded by the WIHEA Student Fellows Strategic fund and other WIHEA funds.
- Seek and collate content to produce news articles for inclusion in student and staff communications, such as Student Newsletters, Course Rep communications, Staff Insite, the Education Bulletin and WIHEA’s own News & Events web page/Fellows Updates
- Where required film and edit WIHEA Masterclasses and make them accessible to the wider university
- Explore and identify new communication tools, events and opportunities within the university and external, to showcase the work of WIHEA Fellows/Projects to a wider audience
- Assist with producing/recording membership and engagement data and ad hoc administrative/clerical tasks to support events and assist the WIHEA team.
- Provide the student perspective on all of the above to ensure it is appealing, interesting, relevant and clear to students as well as staff.
- Must be able to review and analyse information and be able to select relevant information/text to write articles and produce case studies. We are looking for someone that is creative, that can be given a brief and come up with ideas and suggestions of how to deliver it.
Skills and experience
- Experience of a multichannel communications role and working with written, audio and visual content creation (marketing, blogging, social media channels, filming and editing video footage, creating online articles, newsletters and case studies etc.).
- Experienced in using a range of media and IT equipment and software including video’s, camera’s, media/editing software, newsletter, website and learning platform software. As a minimum it is essential to have experience of using at least one of the following: SiteBuilder, Canva and/or Azorus software and highly desirable to have experience of all three.
- Experience of building trust and effective working relationships with individuals from across a wide range of stakeholder groups.
- Ability to understand a range of higher education matters and demonstrable copywriting skills in creating and curating compelling accurate content.
- An ability to recognise opportunities and think creatively, can be given a brief and come up with ideas and suggestions of how to deliver it and adapt tone of voice and content type for different audiences and purposes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong project and time management skills and an ability to manage priorities.
- Understanding of communication principles, branding and online corporate identity.
- Excellent interpersonal and team working skills.

Additional information
Closing Date: 10/09/25
- Location: A combination of working from home and on campus, normally Senate House, but to also attend campus events.
- Hours: Initially, 10 hours per week (possibly further hours may be available).
Although there is some flexibility, it is expected that the post holder will be available to work some of the hours in office on a Tuesday and be available to attend on-campus events/meetings where required. Remaining hours can be worked flexibly from home.
