Description
Role
To provide assistance/support in helping raise awareness of higher education and improve attainment levels in schools and colleges. The role will primarily support SRM events targeted at potential applicants but will also support other university departments with their activities.
Duties and responsibilities
- To provide support to pupils in local schools and colleges as required through activities/events which may be on or off campus.
- To work a minimum of five recruitment or widening participation events per academic year.
- To act as a responsible, positive role model to external visitors, stakeholders, prospective students, and young people.
- To undertake any necessary training to help facilitate events/activities.
- To undertake all University mandatory training
- Assist in the development and delivery of widening participation and recruitment activities.
- Assist in the operational set up and running of corporate events, to include greeting and signposting visitors on campus and assisting with visitor registration.
- Assist in the delivery of subject specific activity for academic schools.
- To complete and hand in any associated paperwork as required.
- To always follow child protection and safeguarding procedures.
- Adhere to the University’s Health and Safety Policy and guidelines.
- Adhere to the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.
- Promote Equality and Diversity for staff and students.
- Any other reasonable duties that may be allocated from time to time commensurate with the grading of the post.
Skills and experience
- Currently enrolled as a Teesside University student for the duration of the contract.
- Ability to enthuse others and raise aspirations about progression to higher education
- Experience of working with young people
- Use Microsoft Office packages and e-mail on a regular basis
- Communicate well with staff and students and school/college pupils (both verbally and written).
- A commitment to communicate with people of varying ages, races and backgrounds
- Deal with confidential information and sensitive situations and adhere to the Child Protection Act
- Contribute to a team as an active participant and work well with others
- Work flexibly including evening and weekend work
- Plan and organise their own workload effectively to meet specified deadlines
- The role holder must be willing to complete a disclosure and barring service application form
- International students are also required to produce a certificate/code of good conduct from home country
