Description
Role
We are seeking a proactive, self-motivated, and detail-oriented Research Office Data Support to join our team on a temporary basis. This vital role supports the School’s EQUIS re-accreditation by validating, researching, identifying, and compiling publicly available data on faculty research activities, researcher profiles, and research outputs. The successful candidate will work independently after induction while contributing to a collaborative team effort, playing a key role in ensuring the availability, accuracy, and relevance of data that underpins our accreditation submission. This work is essential to maintaining the School’s global reputation and triple-crown accreditation status.
Duties and responsibilities
- Follow a provided list of required data points to source reliable data from publicly available information on faculty research activities.
- Search for and compile researcher profiles and academic identifiers (e.g., ORCID, Scopus, Google Scholar).
- Validate relevant data already held within the School’s systems and complete any missing information.
- Accurately record the sources of all collected data to ensure transparency and traceability.
- Work independently to manage tasks and meet deadlines.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to clarify data needs and resolve any discrepancies.
Skills and experience
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for organising and managing data.
- Experience working with large, complex data sets.
- Ability to interpret data and assess its relevance and reliability.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling data.
- A good understanding of academic research activities and the UK higher education research environment is highly desirable.
- Comfortable working independently, managing time effectively, and meeting deadlines.
- A proactive and resourceful approach to problem-solving and information gathering.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for liaising with internal stakeholders.
- Applied knowledge of internet research tools (e.g. search engines, AI tools), and familiarity with platforms such as LinkedIn and other social media platforms.
- Any experience with web scraping or automated data collection tools is desirable, but not essential.

Hybrid. After an initial period of working on campus to be introduced to the requirements of the role and key stakeholders, the role may be undertaken in a combination of working from home and on campus.
