Role

With a rich history spanning over 125 years, City St George’s Students’ Union’ is the primary organisation representing every City St George’s student. That makes the Students’ Union the representative body for over 27,000 members. With five Full-Time Student Officers, a team of permanent staff and the involvement of student volunteers, the Students’ Union is at the heart of activity on campus tasked with improving and delivering the best Student Experience. 

The Students’ Union delivers a range of services and support for its members, from independent academic advice to supporting our Programme Reps to enhance their course, to promoting the employability and development of students through our Communities Team. The Students’ Union also runs a bar and two shops which sell a range of products, including ethically sourced University branding clothing, merchandise, and stationery.

 

Duties and responsibilities

Programme Engagement

  • Act as the face of the programme, recruiting participants and promoting high levels of participation, satisfaction, and retention.
  • Assist the Sports Administrator (Social Sport) and fellow Activators in managing the GetActive programme and one-off promotional events
  • Session Management
  • Welcome, interact, and motivate students to participate in activities.
  • Ensure participants feel comfortable and have a positive experience, encouraging repeat attendance
  • Scan tickets at each session to verify valid tickets/attendance.
  • Take responsibility for setting up and packing down all session equipment.
  • Regularly monitor equipment condition and ensure any issues or shortages are reported to the Sports Administrator (Social Sport).Adhere to and enforce health and safety protocols, particularly regarding session capacities.
  • Report accidents, injuries, behavioural issues, and equipment problems to the Sports Administrator (Social Sport).Gather feedback from participants and relay it to the Sports Administrator (Social Sport).Post-Session 

Duties:

  • Monitor and report on session attendance, providing regular updates and feedback to the Sports Administrator (Social Sport) to enhance the student experience
  • Communicate any concerns or suggestions related to the GetActive sessions to the Sports Administrator (Social Sport).Please note: Some sessions and events may take place in the evening or on weekends, so flexibility is required.

  • Students enrolled at City St George’s University for the 2025/26 academic year.
  • Friendly, enthusiastic, motivated, and welcoming individuals
  • Students passionate about promoting the benefits of being active.
  • Reliable, committed, and organised individuals.
  • Good communicators with the ability to handle conflict and dilemmas.
  • Ability to manage work time effectively without close supervision
  • Students with knowledge of or willingness to learn about all SU Sport programmes.
