Role

The Registration Support and ID Card Production service will be available to students consistently throughout opening hours. All ambassadors must take a lunch break but may be required to show some flexibility on the timing of this in cooperation with their fellow ambassadors.

Also, any Student Ambassador t-shirts must be returned once registration is over.

 

Working Hours:

Training (Rhind Building):

  • Wed 3rd Sept (TBC – approx. 3 hours)

Rhind Building:

  • Thurs 4th Sept (10am – 4pm)
  • Mon 8th – Wed 10th Sept (9am – 5pm / 9:30am – 4:30pm / 10am – 4pm)
  • Mon 15th – Thurs 18th Sept (9am – 5pm / 9:30am – 4:30pm / 10am – 4pm / 10am – 1:30pm)
  • Sat 20th Sept [International Students’ Day] (TBC – approx. 5 hours)
  • Mon 22nd – Fri 26th Sept (9am – 5pm / 9:30am – 4:30pm / 9:30am – 4:30pm / 9:30am – 4:30pm / 9:30am – 12:30pm)

Northampton Suite:

  • Mon 29th Sept – Fri 3rd Oct (10am – 4pm / 10am – 4pm / 10am – 4pm / 10am – 4pm / 10am – 12:30pm)

(Old) Student Centre:

  • Mon 6th Oct (11am – 3pm)
  • Wed 8th Oct (11am – 3pm)
  • Fri 10th Oct (11am – 3pm)
  • Mon 13th Oct (10am – 4pm)

Rhind Building: up to 32 hours per week 

Northampton Suite: up 26.5 hours per week 

(Old) Student Centre: up to 18 hours per week

Duties and responsibilities

To provide excellent customer service to new and returning City St George’s students during Welcome 2025.

  • To offer new students a warm and friendly welcome to the ID card venue.
  • To answer questions and provide support for new students and ensure that they are directed to the best on-site service to assist them.
  • To assist the Registration staff with helping students navigating the ID card venue, managing queues, ensuring students are queuing in the right place for the correct reason.
  • To assist in the production of City St George’s ID cards - finding the student on the system, taking their photo, and creating their ID card.
  • To report into the Hiring Manager at the start and end of each day to record working hours and break times.

The above list is not exclusive or exhaustive and the post holder will be required to undertake such duties as may reasonably be expected within the scope of the post. All members of staff are required to be professional, co-operative and flexible in line with the needs of the post, Department, School and the University.

  • Rhind Building - 18 x Student Ambassadors needed
  • Northampton Suite - 6 x Student Ambassadors needed
  • (Old) Student Centre - 6 x Student Ambassadors needed

Skills and experience

Knowledge:

  • The post holders must have experience of the work carried out by Student Ambassadors.
  • A good understanding of the customer service levels expected of Student Ambassadors. 
  • A good understanding of the layout of the University Campus, and where essential services are based.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills suitable for a variety of different settings and audiences.
  • Good technical skills, to enable the Ambassador to pick up the process for creating an ID card quickly.
  • Evidence of reliability and commitment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Enthusiastic and positive approach to university life and higher education.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Ability to work successfully as part of a team.
  • Empathy towards new students many of whom may never have been to London before.

Experience:

  • Current City St George's Student Ambassador (if possible).
  • Work experience with young people, either paid or voluntary.
  • Experience of working with a team.
